Microscopic World

A former coworker of mine (at my present employer) sent me a link to an article that referenced my previous employer. Apparently, Haberman is the PR firm for FireFox now.

That's cool. They've always gone for the fun story to tell. Makes me a little sad that I'm not telling cool stories, but then I read further and realize the PR guy in charge is doing it on his own and I remember why I'm glad I don't work there anymore.

I'm channelling John Ryan... BLORT!

Just had a big old eating day for sure. Chatterbox with Pink for a coke and some buffalo wings (Happy Birthday Mr. Ever-So-Slightly-Older-Than-Me-Brother-in-Law) and then a veritable feast at the home of the best little ISP in Tex... I mean, Minnesota.

I'm going to roly poly myself off to bed. Thanks all!

You tore down my Dairy Queen for what??

So a while back they tore down my local Dairy Queen. I know, who heard of an ice cream store anywhere near me going out of business?

Anyway, there's been construction on the spot lately. A severely ugly looking cinderblock style building with Frank Lloyd Wright style sprites on the flat roof. Yes, it looks that dumb.

I just found out today that it's the new brainchild of Horst Recelbacher (a la Aveda fame.) It's an organic restaurant and store called The IN.

Bleah. Patooey. Feh.

Okay, maybe I dislike Horst more than I need to, but to replace my Dairy Queen with organic sprout juice is just too much.

The Home Stretch

Thursdays always feel like the home stretch. If I can make it through today, I'm in the clear. Not that I haven't had my share of sucky Fridays, but I theorize that I can do anything for 24 hours, right?

This morning, while drying my hair, I thought to myself, "I should go to Brookdale today." Which was a silly thing to think since I have to work and Brookdale is pretty much a boarded up relic of the past. Instead, I'll putter about the office and ponder what this whole Brookdale thing means.

They found the little girl that had the Amber Alert last week. And then no Amber Alert, and then voila, they're in the parking lot at the Holiday store in Fridley. Why is it that all the fugitives end up in Fridley? Their city PR team really should make some recommendations to not let that happen quite so much.

Well. That didn't turn out like I'd hoped.

I'm Pro-Choice. There, I said it.

Not only will I say it, but I'm not going to shut up about it for a bit.

A friend pointed me to My Ballot where you can type in your address and get a list of everyone that will be on your ballot. I had heard that there was one seat on the MN Supreme Court that was going to have a current pro-choice judget challenged by a pro-life judge.

Spending a little more time on this, I find that on my ballot, there are FIVE judicial elections that pit pro-choice people against pro-lifers. In an interest in furthering my own cause, here's how it lays out:

PositionPro-choicePro-Life
Associate Justice - Minnesota Supreme Court - Seat 6Alan C. PageTim Tingelstad
Judge - Minnesota Court of Appeals - Seat 3Paul Elliot RossDavid Minge
Judge - Minnesota Court of Appeals - Seat 14R.A. (Jim) RandallDaniel L. Griffith
Judge - District Court - Seat 18Susan N. BurkeStephan Allan Baker
Judge - District Court - Seat 27LaJune Thomas LangeKevin J. Kolosky

There's one other contested judicial race between Thor Anderson and Julie Delgado O'Neil. I couldn't find out how they stand on the issue, so if anyone happens to know, please share it with me.
