And Another Grr!

Some of you may recall that I didn't much care for the merger of Daytons and Marshall Fields. You might also recall that I was optimistic about the sale of Marshall Fields to May Departments stores -- hoping beyond hope that it may become a Famous Barr.

But alas, it looks like Federated is going to buy May, which means it's going to turn my once beloved Daytons into a gawddamned Macy's. FEH and double FEH.

Macy's was fine when that was the best I could do in the mid-level department store department stuck out in the armpit of the San Francisco Bay with no transportation and no freaking money. But it's a far cry from being anything remotely stylish OR of high quality. If I thought Marshall Fields had sucked the youth out of Daytons, I can't wait to see this watered down even more as the prices go up.

I've been doing most of my shopping at Herbergers these days. It's not Daytons... it's more like Powers or Donaldsons. Not great, but decent and priced accordingly. Bleah.

Yahoo News: Budding Jordan cyber love ends in divorce

AMMAN (AFP) - A budding romance between a Jordanian man and woman turned into an ugly public divorce when the couple found out that they were in fact man and wife, state media reported.

Separated for several months, boredom and chance briefly re-united Bakr Melhem and his wife Sanaa in an Internet chat room, the official Petra news agency said.

Bakr, who passed himself off as Adnan, fell head over heels for Sanaa, who signed off as Jamila (beautiful) and described herself as a cultured, unmarried woman -- a devout Muslim whose hobby was reading, Petra said.

Cyber love blossomed between the pair for three months and soon they were making wedding plans. To pledge their troth in person, they agreed to meet in the flesh near a bus depot in the town of Zarqa, northeast of Amman.

The shock of finding out their true identities was too much for the pair.

Upon seeing Sanaa-alias-Jamila, Bakr-alias-Adnan turned white and screamed at the top of his lungs: "You are divorced, divorced, divorced" -- the traditional manner of officially ending a marriage in Islam.

"You are a liar," Sanaa retorted before fainting, the agency said. Sun Feb 6, 3:59 PM ET

No New Look

Every year about this time I start to get a little antsy with the way GraphicActs looks, or what kind of content I want it to contain. I started to feel that way as soon as 2005 was underway. I'm going to placate myself with a slight rearrangement and a massive server cleanout instead.

Which isn't to say I didn't break a ton of links or get rid of your favorite esoteric page. As usual, please let me know if this is the case. Chances are, probably not. In fact, I realized tonight that there had been a broken link on the home page for a year. I didn't notice it and apparently, neither did anyone else.

The only person that is likely to notice any change would be our esteemed ISP Guy because I had apparently been packratting things away I deleted more junk than I left.

A picture speaks a thousand words

And our mayor wonders why we have a hard time taking him seriously.
