It's a start...
Hennepin rethinks smoking ban to include some exemptions -- primarily, traditional bars where less than 50% of their sales are derived from food.
It doesn't help me personally, and the yokels loitering in my neighborhood, since Minneapolis has its own ban, but it's a start...

And since the rest of the income comes from the sale of cigarettes....
Yes, I know: booze and cigarettes often go together. But I've been enjoying smoke-free clothing, hair and lungs after evenings at my favorite watering holes, and now this may put an end to my short-lived enjoyment.
Then again, I don't want to see my favorite watering holes go under. But my big question is whether they're suffering because Ramsey County is now the place to drink if you or your friends smoke, leaving Hennepin County high and all-too-dry.

I know that there's lots of folks out there that feel the way you do. Enough that the ban passed.
But this whole thing has had the unexpected, wholy unpleasant, side effect of making my neighborhood really noisy and boisterous because there's drunks standing around outside of the bars smoking.
Good grief, I mean, it's one thing to live next door to Arone's and the occassional hooha that entails. But their typical outdoor smokers are apparently SINGERS!!! WHO KNEW???
I guess, I'm just sayin', that if you think it's okay to make people stand outside to smoke in a bar, then you should have to live next door to one.

Ramsey or Anoka counties. Sharx does pretty good business among some NE crowds who bop up Marshall to be able to smoke and drink.

Well, yeah, that's the concern that businesses have, but it's not the concern that I have.
I want the yahoos INDOORS.
