Cable-B-Me
So. Trying to figure out how I want to set up this new cable network I've got going here. Right now, the cable modem is living in the living room. Not it's final destination. It's also not the router the sales guy said it would be and since I'm not inclined to pay for extra IP addresses, I'm making a plan.
I think I'm going to set it up like this:
1. Get the damned cable modem installed in the office the way they promised me to do that (How? Create association letterhead -- good thing I'm a designer, type up the letter, get someone else on the board to sign it just for good measure.)
2. Hook up Tim's desktop computer to the cable modem via the modem's USB port.
3. Hook an AirPort Express to the modem's ethernet port for the two laptops. (And maybe even the printer and use the USB print server dealie.)
Theoretically, that'll get us all hooked up and roaming around the house. Please let me know if there's anything about this plan that wouldn't work (besides the whole cable company hoo-ha.)
p.s. BTW, yes, it is a lot faster than DSL. A lot lot faster.
